Hello,

I am a native speaker, my wife has been using your site.　To me, your answer is incorrect.　When someone is laid off, they are fired instantly.　Being laid off, means that the reasoning behind it is not necessarily performance, but it does not change the fact that they no longer work for the company effective immediately.　The terms of the layoff *may* be temporary in the length of time. 　先日から気になっていたのですが、
貴殿はネイティブスピーカーですか。
ネイティブなら次のように始めるか
と思うのですが。例えば

　Hi!( hello !) I'm american.I'm living
in Tokyo.Your site is very good and my
wife・・・・・.

それに、自分がネイティブスピーカーだと
言いたいならnative speakerでなく native
Englishspeakerというと思います。まして
最初の文ですから。

　いろんなネイティブがいるのは当然ですが
私はこの文を読んで「おや？」と思いました
ただ私の英語力では断定できません。もし貴
殿がネイティブなら、なぜこのように書いた
のか向学の為お話願えませんか。

Hello,

Thank you very much for your advice. Sorry to be awfully late in replying to your post. I'm such a procrastinator.
I suppose you read [#5698]. This question is from the STEP Test　(STEP＝Society for Testing English Proficiency).

Last month they had to lay off several hundred men.　　[英検２級]
(1)adopt temporarily
(2)fire instantly
(3)dismiss temporarily
(4)release immediately
=================

The answer, according to the workbook, is (3). However, thinking about it further, it occured to me that these alternatives are inappropriate. So I think I'm going to delete it.
Any and all help from native speakers would be GREATLY appreciated.

I'm sorry that you think the way I responded regarding English being my native language.　I was more concerned about making a point about the incorrect answer than anything.　I'm obviously speaking in English, and responding in regards to a question about the English language, so it could be understood when I say "native speaker" that I mean "native 'English' Speaker".　Also, take into account I'd had about 9 or 10 drinks in me when I responded, so my grammar may not be perfect.　Cheers.
