Problem:
I teach English to children at a kindergarten. I volunteer at the kindergarten once a week. I don't know whether I should teach the children articles, such as "a" and "an." For example, when I ask, "What's this?" the children tend to say, "It's apple," instead of the correct "It's an apple." Also, I don't know whether I should teach plural and singular forms. For example, when I ask, "What do you like?" the children often say, "I like apple," instead of the correct "I like apples." How, do you think, I hould teach the children?

Response 1:
The earlier you correct the children's grammar, the better. You should speak correctly yourself, of course, and you should encourage the children to speak correctly. Language habits are formed at an early agem and mistakes are hard to correct later. There are many techniques that you can use to make children aware of proper English.
Response 2:
English class for children is a time for them to enjoy learning about English and English-speaking cultures. You should spend time on activities that are appropriate for their age and which are fun. Do not try to teach the children grammar. They are not ready to learn it, and they will study it intensively later, in junior high school.
