Boys tend to be better than girls at not seeing or touching something and yet still being able to calculate it. When mathematics is taught using pictures and objects the female brain often finds it easier.
Males like abstract arguments, philospphical puzzles, and moral debates about abstract principles. We must stress that there are many exceptions to all these rules. For instance, some girls excel in industrial design and their spatial abilities surpass those of many boys. In general, however, the world of the abstract (including leaning toward abstract design) is explored more by the male brain than the female. Architecture and engineering, which rely so much on abstract design principles, are words toward which the male brain has moved.
