戦争は破壊を表している。人々が殺され負傷し、愛する人は失い、建物や町は破壊される。
この事だけが、戦争の惨事ではない。自然も被害を受け、環境は戦争で使用された武器によって汚染されるのである。

→「戦争とは破壊だ」「戦争――、それは破壊だ」のようにしてもかまいません。

×愛する人は失い
→何を失うの？　そうではなくて、loved ones 「（だれかに）愛されている人」つまり、「（だれかが）愛する人」ということ。つまり、あなたが愛している人（たとえば、肉親、恋人など）のこと。loved one ――最愛の人、恋人、故人、亡くなった家族の者

■訳例: 戦争とは破壊である。人間が殺され負傷し、愛するものが失われ、建物や都市が破壊される。戦争の悲劇はこれだけではない。自然も被害を受け、環境が戦争で使用された武器によって汚染されるのだ。

「殺され」というように受身にすると意味が弱くなるので、能動態として訳すことも可能でしょう。

■訳例: 戦争とは破壊である。人を殺戮し傷つけ、愛するものを奪い、建物や都市を破壊する。戦争の悲劇はこれだけではない。自然を破壊し、戦争で使用する武器が環境を汚染する。
